How the TRUMPF TPC165 panel cutter is NOT a chainsaw!

First of all, it is good to state this from the outset…

The TPC165 panel cutter from TRUMPF is NOT a chainsaw.

It's one of the most common questions we get asked.

The key difference between a chainsaw and the TPC165 is the actual chain itself and the teeth that are on it.

What does the chain look like on a TPC165?

If you closely inspect the chain on a TPC165 you can see it is a serrated blade.

It's more similar to a jigsaw or a reciprocating saw.

You can actually run your finger over the chain and not worry about catching yourself or nicking yourself.

How is that different to a chainsaw?

A typical chainsaw tooth from a chainsaw chain has a hook on it.

This hook is designed to catch the material and drag itself into it.

That's where a lot of accidents happen because when a chainsaw gets hold of something like a tree (or someone's arm or leg), then it drags itself into the it.
